On June 1st, Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand previewed the Champions League final by stating he will support Borussia Dortmund to win, because of Jadon Sancho. He also heaped praise on Jude Bellingham, comparing his current level to a young Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ferdinand admitted he is rooting for Dortmund to lift the Champions League trophy. “To be honest, I don’t care who wins the Champions League, whether it’s Real Madrid or Dortmund. But I like Sancho, so I want Dortmund to win. Sancho’s story shows that young players, after facing criticism and unfair treatment, can change their environment and succeed at a new club. If you have a strong character and never give up, anything is possible.”
Ferdinand also discussed Bellingham. “I’ve talked to former Real Madrid players like Makelele, Carlos, and Zidane, and they were all shocked by the level Bellingham has shown. We can’t believe that a player so young and inexperienced can achieve such a high level. He has done everything he can. Cristiano Ronaldo, at the same age, is perhaps the only one who can compare to him in terms of goals and impact on the game.”
