At 3:00 am on June 2nd, the Champions League final of the 23/24 season will be played at Wembley Stadium. As one of the teams to make it to the final after 11 years, Dortmund’s chosen hotel in London has a “mystical” significance.
The last time Dortmund reached the Champions League final was in the 12/13 season, also at Wembley Stadium in London. They lost 1-2 to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, ending up as runners-up.
Now, after 11 years, Dortmund has once again reached the final. The entire team has checked into a hotel located on Marylebone Road in central London. Whether it’s intentional or not, this is the same hotel Bayern stayed in when they defeated Dortmund to win the Champions League 11 years ago.
Unlike Dortmund, who are staying in the city center, Real Madrid has opted for Watford, a location away from the city center, as their team base. The entire team checked into The Grove Hotel Spa and Golf on Thursday, which is about a 45-minute drive from Wembley Stadium.
