Dortmund correspondent for Sky Germany, Patrick Berger, reports that Mats Hummels and Borussia Dortmund are increasingly unlikely to extend their contract and the Champions League final could be his last game for the club. His chances of leaving are much higher than his chances of staying, as Hummels’ relationship with current manager Edin Terzic isn’t good.
Hummels is reluctant to play in Saudi Arabia or the MLS, and a free transfer to Serie A is currently the most likely option. Reports from Bild linking him to AC Milan are accurate.
Dortmund have already drawn up a shortlist of potential centre-back replacements, which includes Stuttgart’s Anton and Juventus’s Huijsen. Huijsen is keen on joining Dortmund and the two clubs have already held initial talks.
Stuttgart captain Anton has a release clause of around €20 million. Leverkusen are also interested in him, but Anton has not commented on his future.
