Kane Responds to Lineker: I Would Never Be Disrespectful Like Him, Our National Team Hasn’t Won Anything in Too Long

Following England’s 1-1 draw against Denmark, former England player and current football commentator Gary Lineker made some “inappropriate” remarks about the England national team. England captain Harry Kane responded to Lineker in an interview.

Kane stated: “I understand he has to be honest as a commentator, giving his opinion and views, but he’s also a former England player and he should have respect for the current England players and fans. He should be mindful of his words because people do listen to him and they do care about what he says.”

“As a national team, we haven’t won anything in a very, very long time. A lot of former England players have been through this dark period and they know how hard it is for this team now. I would never be disrespectful to those England legends. I would just say, you have to understand what it feels like to wear this England shirt.”

England currently sits atop Group C with four points after two matches. They will face Slovenia in their final group stage match.
