Kroos: Germany’s Group Stage Win Redemption, We Should Not Have Fallen Behind

On June 24th, in the final match of the European Championship Group A, Germany drew 1-1 with Switzerland. The German war machine secured top spot in the group with 7 points from two wins and a draw, advancing confidently to the Round of 16. After the match, Kroos expressed his joy at the group stage victory but also acknowledged that his team should not have fallen behind.

Kroos said in an interview: “I’m happy to have qualified for the knockout stage as group winners. It was important to equalize in the last moments, and we proved our capabilities. I think we shouldn’t have fallen behind, as we had a firm grip on the game. I am satisfied with Germany’s performance in the group stage.”

Having secured first place in the group, Germany will face the second-placed team from Group C in the Round of 16. Currently, Group C is quite complex. England leads with 4 points from one win and one draw, while Denmark and Slovenia both have 2 points from two draws, and Serbia sits at the bottom with 1 point from one draw and one loss. If they manage to avoid England early, the German war machine stands a good chance against the other opponents.
