In the early hours of June 27th, Turkey secured a 2-1 victory over Czech Republic in their final group stage match of the European Championship, finishing second in the group and advancing to the knockout stages to face Austria.
During the match, a total of 10 Turkish players received yellow cards, including captain Çalhanoğlu and center-back Akdağ, who both earned their second yellow card of the tournament. As a result, they will both be suspended and miss the round of 16 clash against Austria.
On the Austrian side, midfielder Patrick Wimmer will also miss the game due to an accumulation of yellow cards.
