England once again put in a lackluster performance in their final Euro 2024 group stage match against Slovenia, ending in a 0-0 draw. After the match, England legend Gary Neville expressed his frustration, stating that the coaching staff needs to make decisions quickly, not wasting the talent of this England team.
Speaking to ITV, Neville said: “The first half was awful, it was painful to watch. We were, to put it mildly, pretty ordinary. It’s the same stagnant England we’ve seen in every tournament for the last twenty years. The second half was better, with some more flowing attacks and glimpses of brilliance, but the result was still disappointing.”
Neville also urged that this England team’s potential should not be wasted: “England have Palmer, Saka, Bellingham, Manu, Foden, they’ve got huge, huge talent, and we absolutely cannot let that go to waste. Maybe we are the only country in the world who keeps asking ‘where do these players actually fit?’”
