According to Spanish newspaper AS, each Spanish player will receive a €435,000 bonus if they win the European Championship final on July 14th. While the team did not receive any bonuses after the group stage, players will accumulate bonuses based on the team’s performance starting from the quarter-finals, reaching the maximum amount in the final.
This agreement was reached between Spanish Football Federation president Pedro Rocha and captain Morata. Currently, the Spanish Football Federation has earned €9.25 million from participation, plus another €1.5 million for advancing to the Round of 16.
From the quarter-finals onwards, players will accumulate bonuses for each win, eventually reaching a maximum of €435,000 per player in the final.
The Federation’s revenue will also increase if Spain continues to advance. In addition to the fixed €9.25 million and €1.5 million for the Round of 16, reaching the quarter-finals will bring another €2.5 million, the semi-finals €4 million, the final €5 million, and an additional €3 million for winning the championship. Furthermore, each victory will generate an extra €1 million, with 3 victories already in the group stage, and each draw will bring €500,000. The Spanish Football Federation’s highest income is estimated to be close to €30 million.
Apart from the players’ bonuses, Spanish national team head coach Luis de la Fuente and his coaching staff will also receive proportionate bonuses. Their bonus will increase by 10% if they win the tournament. However, this is not the main reward for the coach. The Spanish Football Federation plans to sign a new contract with him as head coach, lasting until the 2026 World Cup, with an annual salary of €2 million, excluding bonuses. Currently, de la Fuente is on a senior executive contract with the Federation, earning far less than he could potentially earn from the European Championship bonus.
