A Scottish fan named Colin King has been found dead in his sleep two days after watching his country’s opening match against Germany, according to reports from several Scottish media outlets.
The 57-year-old fan, from South Lanarkshire, was found unresponsive in his bed on Monday morning. His nephew confirmed Colin’s passing on social media.
He wrote on social media: “With Scotland’s Euro dream realised, we were frantically getting tickets and subscriptions sorted. Now, after the disastrous performance in the opening match, none of that matters. It’s with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of Colin King, a staunch Scotland fan.”
“He was at the opening match on Friday. He met us in Dusseldorf on Saturday and had a great weekend in the city. He didn’t get to bed until the early hours but tragically didn’t wake up on Monday morning. He loved to follow Scotland all over the world and sadly this was our last trip together. This will be remembered for many reasons for all of us.”
