England drew 0-0 with Slovenia in the third round of Group C of the European Championship, but as Denmark and Serbia also drew 0-0 in the other group match, England still topped the group. After the match, England captain Harry Kane spoke to the media.
Speaking to ITV, Kane said: “Topping the group was our aim going into the tournament. We were in control of our own destiny and I thought we played better than we have done. We just couldn’t get that killer touch but we’re looking forward to the next game. We created some chances, some we could have done better with.”
“I thought the players who came on were great, they kept the energy up and that’s what we need. We need everyone to contribute and so far we’ve done that. These are tough games, we’ve been in this situation before and we’ve stepped up in the past when it comes to the knockout stages. Every game at the Euros is tough, it’s going to be a tough challenge ahead but we’ve got enough quality to progress.”
