Belgium drew 0-0 with Ukraine in their final Group E match at the European Championships. After the match, Belgium captain Kevin De Bruyne spoke to the media.
De Bruyne said: “We wanted to win against Ukraine, but it wasn’t to be. I just want to ask you guys something, if we had attacked more and conceded a goal and been eliminated, what would you have said? You guys tell me.”
“We’re clearly the underdogs against France in the round of 16, but we have to beat everyone to win the European Championship. We’ve been favourites before and been knocked out, so what everyone says doesn’t really matter.”
De Bruyne was named Man of the Match twice in the group stage, but Belgian fans booed his name when he was awarded the award again.
