According to Bild, the Portuguese national team’s hotel during the 2024 European Championship has received a high-tech addition – a mobile cryotherapy chamber worth €250,000 and weighing 5 tons.
This device, produced by the German company Kaltgeruck, can provide extremely low temperatures and low humidity, offering athletes fast and effective whole-body cryotherapy treatments that last no more than 4 minutes.
The chamber’s temperature can be adjusted down to minus 85 degrees Celsius, with humidity around 10%. This therapy is known for its effectiveness in relieving muscle fatigue and joint pain in athletes, as well as promoting quick recovery and improving sleep quality.
Representatives from Kaltgeruck revealed that the device was custom-made quickly according to the specific needs of the Portuguese national team. They hope this cryochamber will become a secret weapon for players to de-stress after intense matches.
Cristiano Ronaldo is a known fan of cryotherapy, frequently using it to combat post-match fatigue. Aside from cryotherapy, Ronaldo also employs hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which accelerates cell repair and regeneration by increasing oxygen levels in the blood.
Furthermore, Ronaldo has invested in a regenerative system called Vascusport, designed by NASA scientists to promote tissue regeneration, enhance physical performance, and reduce the risk of sports injuries.
The 39-year-old Ronaldo’s ability to participate in his 6th European Championship is undoubtedly inseparable from the support of these advanced technologies.
