On June 28, Spanish forward Ferran Torres spoke to RAC1 about the Olympics, Barcelona, the European Championship, and more.
On declining the Olympic call-up
“The Olympics are exciting and thrilling, it’s a competition I haven’t been a part of before. But we need to be realistic, this season is long, we have many games to play, and that has led to a wave of injuries. We need to recover, avoid further injuries, and prepare for the new coach for next season.”
On Flick
“We received congratulations and encouragement from Flick after every European Championship match, so I’m eager to meet him and I’m looking forward to working with him at Barcelona.”
On the European Championship
“I’ve been working hard in training and it has paid off with goals. I’m not surprised we topped a difficult group, we’re enjoying the competition with confidence, and the results show it.”
“There are no easy teams in the European Championship, especially in the knockout stages, every team has the potential to win it all. With so much at stake, we need to give our all, put in extra effort and focus.”
