Data agency Gracenote predicts England are the third favourites to reach the Euro final (22% probability), behind only Spain (27%) and the Netherlands (25%).
The Netherlands finished third in Group D, meaning they had to win their final game to top the group. They lost to Austria but were fortunate to avoid the ‘death group’ and potentially England in the last 16. Instead, they face Romania, who are much weaker. If they progress, their quarter-final opponent will be either Austria or Turkey, meaning they could face traditional powerhouses England or Italy only in the semi-finals.
According to Simon Gleave, head of sport analysis at Gracenote, England have a 73% probability of beating Slovakia to reach the last eight, a figure again only lower than Spain (80%) and the Netherlands (76%). England are the fifth favourites to win Euro 2024 (10% probability), behind Spain, Germany, the Netherlands and France.
