Slovakia captain Milan Skriniar believes his side can use their team spirit to overcome England in Sunday’s last-16 clash.
“In my opinion, they rely on individual qualities, they know they have players who can decide matches. That is why I think we can use team play to counteract them,” said Skriniar.
Skriniar added that England have been under tremendous pressure, which is why they have not performed well in the group stage. “Even in the first game (England 1-0 Serbia), they knew they were England and they had to win with style. The media and fans criticize them after their games, so they will be under more pressure than us. That can work in our favor,” he said.
Slovakia finished third in Group E with four points, equal with Romania and Belgium who were first and second, but were behind them on goal difference. England topped Group C with five points, having one win and two draws.
