De Jong is due to join Barcelona’s pre-season preparations on July 10. He was ruled out of the Netherlands’ Euro 2024 squad at the last minute due to persistent right ankle problems.
The Barcelona midfielder had initially attempted to push through the injury to participate in Euro 2024, but opted to focus on pre-season preparations after concerns over the possibility of aggravating his old injury.
