On June 29th, England winger Bukayo Saka gave an interview to the BBC, addressing his positional concerns.
England have endured a lackluster Euro 2024 campaign so far. Right-back Kieran Trippier has been forced into playing left-back in the games against Serbia, Denmark, and Slovenia. However, after missing Friday’s training session, his availability for the Slovakia match is in doubt.
With Luke Shaw still recovering from injury, Saka, a winger, might be asked to fill in at left-back. The Arsenal winger expressed his displeasure with this proposition.
“Me at left-back? That’s not feasible at all, I don’t see it as a solution. But at the end of the day, it’s not my decision, Southgate makes those calls and we have to trust his formations.”
