French Legend: Belgium’s “Golden Generation” is a Thing of the Past, France Will Easily Advance to the Quarterfinals

Although France has not been convincing in the European Championship so far, and even their star player and captain Kylian Mbappé has been hampered by a nose injury, former France striker Thuram, who won the 1998 World Cup with the team, believes that the current Belgium team is no longer the “golden generation” it once was.

On the show “Rothen s’enflamme”, hosted by his former national team teammate, Franck Ribéry, Thuram boldly expressed his opinion, believing that France can win easily. Thuram said: “Look at these poor Belgians, I think they’re pitiful because they’re completely out of form. Of course, some of them still have a bit of individual ability, but I really don’t see anything to be afraid of. If we can’t even beat this Belgium team, what’s the point of us even being in the European Championship?”

Thuram pointed out that Belgium’s defense has serious problems and lacks even a defensive system. He also believes that the days when Belgium was feared are over. Thuram said: “I understand the disappointed Belgian fans. People have been talking about their golden generation for years, but now the golden generation has lost all its shine. There’s absolutely nothing good about the current Belgium team. I think they’re too weak, lack power, and lack aggression…”

When Ribéry pointed out that France’s performance in the European Championship hasn’t been impressive either, Thuram responded: “France is more capable of regaining their form in a crucial knockout game, which these Belgians are simply not able to do. France has been tormented by fast-paced and high-pressure teams in recent months, but even if they are pushed to the limit, the current Belgium team will absolutely not be able to raise their game intensity.”
