Czech coach: Losing in the final moments was very frustrating. We didn’t give Portugal much space

On June 19, the Czech Republic lost 1-2 to Portugal in their first match of the European Championship Group F. Czech coach Hasek was unhappy with the loss and said his team didn’t give Portugal much space.

Portugal won 2-1 thanks to Gonçalo Ramos’ last-minute winner. “I’m really frustrated with the result,” Hasek said. “We played against one of the best teams in the world, and the score was 1-1 until stoppage time in the second half. It’s a real pity that we lost after conceding the goal in the final moments.”

Hasek was satisfied with his team’s defensive performance. “We didn’t make it easy for Portugal at all throughout the game,” he said. “We did well defensively, we didn’t give Portugal much space.”

After a difficult start, the Czech team will face Georgia and Turkey in their next two group matches. The Eastern European side will be looking to get points against these two opponents to secure their place in the knockout stages.
