Depay: Dutch dressing room order has changed since the ‘Three Musketeers’ era

On July 3rd at 00:00, Netherlands will face Romania in the Round of 16 of the European Championship. Prior to the game, Dutch forward Memphis Depay spoke to the media.

Depay hinted that the order in the Dutch dressing room has changed since the ‘Three Musketeers’ era. He said: “When I joined the Dutch national team at the age of 20, we had some players who stood above the group, and others followed them and kept their mouths shut. Now, we have more experienced players with personality. There is a new hierarchy.”

Regarding his national team career, Depay said: “As I get older, I’ve been playing for the Dutch national team for ten years now. So I’m used to certain things. We also analyze games ourselves.”

On the Round of 16 match against Romania, Depay said: “Against Romania, we will all be united. The journey is never perfect, everyone is together for a month, then we all go home after the tournament. But right now, we all just need to focus on one goal. Sometimes you can’t be too nervous, you have to find balance, you have to be demanding of yourself, but also make time to joke around.”
