It is worth noting that the main referee officiated the Belgium vs Slovakia match in the group stage of this European Championship. He ruled out two goals scored by Lukaku after consulting with the assistant referee and VAR, including a marginal handball penalty in the attack. Ultimately, Slovakia won 1-0 in an upset, and Kalkavan’s officiating also caused some controversy after the match.

Furthermore, the VAR referee for this match, Marco Fritz, was the assistant VAR referee in the Belgium vs Slovakia game. The two assistant referees are also the same as in that game.
