Hamann: Southgate should be happy if Bellingham is suspended. His absence would be the best thing for England

On July 4th, Liverpool legend Dietmar Hamann spoke about Jude Bellingham, stating that it would be a blessing for England if he were to be suspended by UEFA, and that Southgate should be thankful for it.

In the Round of 16 of the European Championship, England’s clash with Slovakia, Bellingham scored a last-minute bicycle kick to equalize, helping England escape from a desperate situation and tie the score at 1-1. He made an obscene gesture during the celebration and is now under investigation by UEFA, facing the risk of suspension.

Hamann stated that if Bellingham were to be suspended, it would be good for England: “If Bellingham gets suspended, then Southgate should be thankful, it’s even a good thing for England. Bellingham is nothing without the help of his teammates, and besides scoring two goals, he has not shown any effect in this European Championship.”

In this European Championship, the star-studded England team has been struggling and has narrowly reached the quarter-finals. In the upcoming quarter-finals, England will face Switzerland.
