On June 20th, in the second round of Group A of the European Championship, Germany comfortably beat Hungary 2-0, securing a top-16 finish with two victories in two games. German coach Nagelsmann commented after the match, saying the win wasn’t easy, and also stated that he won’t be making major changes for the final group game against Switzerland.
Despite the desired victory against Hungary, Nagelsmann still seemed slightly concerned: “We gave the opponents too many chances from set pieces in the first half, which made the game quite tense. Fortunately, in the second half, we controlled the pace of the game well, opened up the field with quick passes, and by scoring the second goal, we prevented their counterattack.”
While Germany has already qualified for the top 16, Nagelsmann has stated that they won’t be taking the Switzerland game lightly: “We want to win the group, which is our most urgent goal right now. There won’t be any drastic changes like rotating seven players in that match. I can rule that out.”
