England narrowly advanced to the round of 16 of the European Championship after a 2-1 extra-time victory over Slovakia, but a small incident occurred after the game.
After the game, Slovakia manager Calzona went to speak with referee Mellor, but Rice attempted to interrupt Calzona’s conversation with the referee, which angered him. He pushed Rice in the chest, and Rice responded with expletives. Calzona responded to this during a post-game interview.
Calzona said: “Rice should have gone over to say hello to the referee and left. I was going to speak to the referee, but he wouldn’t leave, he just stayed there. But he apologized to me afterwards, we have no issues. I just didn’t like the fact that England kept wasting time at the end, and the referee didn’t punish them for it.”
