Rodri, who returned from suspension and scored the crucial equaliser, helped Spain come back from behind to beat Georgia 4-1 in the Round of 16 of the European Championship, setting up a quarter-final clash against hosts Germany. After the match, Rodri, who was named Man of the Match, spoke to the media.
Rodri said: “It was a very complicated game. Maybe Georgia don’t have the same name as other teams, but they put us in trouble. Scoring is part of football, our team showed resilience. It was going to be even more difficult today because it was a Round of 16, no one makes it easy.”
“Obviously, I needed to get into those areas more. We knew this before the game, actually in the game I was able to do it, that’s the key. We’ve shown maturity but we need to improve some things if we want to advance. Germany will be playing at home but we have our own weapons, and I’m sure they won’t be happy to face us. We have to give it our all and make our supporters and those at home cheer for us.”
