Slovenia were eliminated from the Euro 2024 Round of 16 after losing to Portugal 0-3 on penalties early morning of July 2nd. Slovenian goalkeeper Jan Oblak expressed his thoughts after the match.
Oblak said in a post-match interview: “When you see what happened today, it’s even harder to accept the reality. Unfortunately, things didn’t go our way in the end. I don’t really know what to say, the atmosphere at the stadium was great, which makes this moment even harder.”
“There’s not much more to say, especially just a few minutes after the game. You saw what happened in extra time, we had a chance to score, but maybe we were a bit unlucky.”
“Ultimately, Portugal deserved the win, we have to congratulate them. However, we are not happy with the result, even though we gave our best to reach the quarter-finals, but in the end we couldn’t do it. Congratulations to Portugal, this is a tough moment.”
