Belgium national team midfielder Kevin De Bruyne recently responded to criticism from fans in an interview with Belgian media outlet RTBF.
Belgium’s group stage performance was underwhelming, with only one win, one draw, and one loss, failing to meet expectations for the Red Devils. After the matches, many Belgian fans booed, expressing their dissatisfaction with the team’s attitude and performance. De Bruyne was also caught on camera refusing to acknowledge the fans after the match against Ukraine, but was persuaded to return by his teammates.
De Bruyne was candid in his RTBF interview: “We just need to play well. I think the team gave their all in the three matches, but didn’t win, and that happened, I understand some people’s frustration.”
“We made decisions in the game. They may think their decisions were wiser, that they weren’t the best choices, but these are the decisions we made. If they have an opinion, they have to put in the work themselves, play the game themselves.”
