Germany midfielder Andrich said he asked his club coach Alonso about his thoughts on the Germany vs. Spain match.
Xabi Alonso is currently the head coach of Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, leading the team to a double victory in the German Cup last season. Many of his disciples have been selected for the German national team, including Andrich. As a Spanish football legend, Alonso would naturally support Spain.
“I asked him this week, and he said it’s a win-win situation for him,” Andrich said in an interview with the newspaper, adding with a smile, “I secretly think it’s a feast prepared for us!”
“He encouraged me to stay calm, not to get too carried away, and not to let myself be swayed by emotions.” The 29-year-old said, “I’m becoming less and less easily swayed by external influences, and he deserves credit for that.”
