At 12:00 am on June 21st, Denmark will face England in the second round of Group C of the European Championship. Before the game, Danish goalkeeper Schmeichel attended a press conference.
About England
Schmeichel: Three years ago, England was one of the top teams in the world. If you look at their current squad and the experience they have from previous tournaments, they might be even better than they were three years ago. When you look around the pitch, they have talented players, experienced players, players who have achieved great things with their clubs. We have to be at our best to have any chance of beating them.
About Kane
Schmeichel: Kane’s work rate is incredible. He’s one of the best strikers in the world, you can’t praise him enough.
About motivation
Schmeichel: For me, the biggest motivation is being able to play another European Championship for Denmark and try to bring joy to the fans.
About how to beat England
Schmeichel: We have to be united. Anytime you play against a team of this caliber, you have to be together, defend well. When the chances come, you have to take them.
About the King being present at the game
Schmeichel: The King of Denmark is going to be watching the game. We’ve all discussed it privately. If he can be there, it’s a great honor for the Danish players. I hope we can bring him a victory. Personally, I’m a fan of the Danish royal family. They give me a lot of energy, not only in Denmark but also abroad.
