Lineker Publicly Mocks Lampard for Being Unemployed, Latter Shows “Disappearing Smile”

On June 20th, during the European Championship broadcast, English football legend Gary Lineker poked fun at fellow panelist Frank Lampard, who has been without a job since being sacked from Everton. This resulted in Lampard’s face instantly changing, his smile disappearing.

During the second round of the European Championship group stage, where Germany defeated Hungary 2-0, Lineker, serving as the BBC’s host, was joined by Lampard, Scott, and Frank as expert commentators. The team analyzed the game together.

The BBC broadcast was set up near the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, a famous landmark, with a fan park adjacent to it. After Germany’s victory, the BBC captured footage of German fans celebrating near their broadcast location.

Lineker jokingly said, “I wish we could take the broadcast screen down so we can see all the fans.” Lampard responded, “They wouldn’t see the back of anyone’s head.” Lineker wittily replied, “No one wants to see the back of your head these days, do they, Frank?”

After hearing this comment, Lampard quickly retracted his smile, leading some fans to believe that Lineker’s words had angered him. Since retiring as a player, Lampard has taken up coaching. However, his stints with Chelsea and Everton both ended in failure. So far, Lampard has not found any coaching positions.
