After the European Championship semi-final between the Netherlands and England, Spain national team coach De la Fuente gave an interview to Spanish national television, analyzing the upcoming final.
On the match between England and the Netherlands, the Spanish coach said: “Both teams are very strong. We have already defeated all the strong teams we have met, now we are going to face England, the final will be contested by the two strongest teams.”
De la Fuente said: “We watched the match after dinner, then went back to the office and analyzed the game calmly. Now we are starting to analyze England in more detail.”
When asked which team he personally preferred to advance, De la Fuente said: “Everyone has their own opinions and preferences. Both teams are excellent. Before the game started, they were both considered contenders for the championship, and the facts have proven this. England is a strong team with experienced players. This will be a very difficult game.”
Speaking about whether England would be more difficult to handle than previous opponents, De la Fuente replied: “Before the game started, England was a favorite along with France and Germany, they have always been strong. We have already faced all the strongest opponents, and now we are facing another strong team. The players have shown extraordinary levels in training, and we hope to perfect all the details tomorrow.”
Regarding whether Spain has made England fearful, De la Fuente responded: “England has very good players and is very strong. We are currently performing better, but one game’s result doesn’t tell the whole story. I don’t need to name any players. They have extensive international experience, but we want to continue to grow and improve the level we have already shown. To win the final, we need to be even better than we are now.”
