German Sky: Anger over Anthony Taylor’s refereeing; over 30,000 German fans call for a rematch against Spain

According to German Sky Sports, over 300,000 German fans have proposed a rematch between Germany and Spain.

Germany lost their knockout match against Spain, with fans expressing anger over several refereeing decisions, particularly a suspected penalty not given to Germany.

It is reported that over 300,000 German fans have signed an online petition demanding a replay of the European Championship quarter-final between Spain and Germany. The reason stems from the officiating of the referee, Anthony Taylor, whose several decisions were considered problematic, particularly a handball inside the box by Spain in extra time, which German fans believe should have been awarded as a penalty.

It is worth noting that Spanish player, Cucurella, did indeed have his arm touch the ball inside the box, but UEFA believes Anthony Taylor’s decision was correct. The justification for this is that Cucurella’s hand was not in an unnatural position, it was naturally hanging down, and he did not intentionally enlarge his defensive area.
