On July 12, the Swiss National Team officially announced contract extensions for head coach Murat Yakin and assistant coach Domenico Conti.
Official announcement:
Yakin took over as national team coach in early August 2021. He led the team to qualification for the 2022 World Cup as group winners in the European Qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup. After advancing to the Round of 16 at the World Cup in Qatar, Yakin, supported by assistant coach Conti, led the team to their second-ever continental final eight at the European Championship in Germany, which was held in February 2024. Since the Round of 16 defeat against Portugal at the World Cup, Switzerland has only lost one of their last 19 matches – a European Championship qualifier against Romania (the European Championship quarter-final against England ended in a draw after regular time).
Further information regarding the contract extension will be announced at a media event on Monday afternoon at 4 pm local time on July 15.
