England captain Harry Kane spoke to the media after his team’s 2-1 semi-final victory over the Netherlands at the European Championship, securing a final spot against Spain.
In an interview with ITV, Kane said: “We’ve made history, it’s an amazing achievement. I’m so proud of everyone. Every single player, every single member of staff, I’m proud of them. To do what we did away from home is really special. There’s one more game to go and we need to do that on Saturday.”
“Watkins? We talk about everyone being ready to play. We’re a team that prepares really well. When that crucial moment comes, you might have five minutes, one minute, but you can make an impact and you can win games for us. He’s been waiting, he’s been patient. What he did was outstanding and he deserves it.”
“Especially in the first half, we controlled the game for the most part. In the second half, we were a little bit tired, but overall I think we deserved the win.”
“Penalty controversy? My foot almost got kicked off, so he [Dumfries] definitely touched me. I was happy to step up and put the penalty away, it definitely felt good.”
“The final against Spain is another incredible tough game, but it’s another game to make history, and that’s what we’re excited about. I’m looking forward to it.”
