According to Spanish media outlet COPE, Spanish forward Ayoze Pérez has been diagnosed with an injury following the Spain-Italy clash, which could rule him out of the final group stage match against Albania.
In the second group game, Spain defeated Italy 1-0, securing their qualification to the knockout stage. Pérez came on as a substitute for the impressive Williams in the 78th minute. Despite limited playing time, the Real Betis player impressed. Unfortunately, a routine post-match medical examination revealed a health concern.
COPE reporter Concha reported that Pérez’s injury has been described as a right leg muscle strain. He will undergo further scans over the weekend to determine the severity of the injury. Given Spain’s current position in Group B, Luis de la Fuente may not want to risk the player’s health in the Albania match, potentially leading to Pérez missing the final group game.
Currently, Spain sits atop Group B, commonly referred to as the “Group of Death,” with two wins out of two, accumulating 6 points and securing a spot in the Round of 16.
